One of the things the British seem to like the most about the idea of Australia is the heat...the idea that the sun is always shining while bronzed aussies run down the beach in a slow motion, baywatch-esque manner...what non-aussies don't seem to realise until they get here is that our country's famous heat can be uncomfortable, humid and oppressive...
It's the kind of heat where you lie in your own sweat at night....where there's no point putting on makeup as it runs off your face immediately....where drying your hair with a hairdryer becomes a thing of the past unless you want to faint of heat exhaustion....where the only thing to do is to float in the pool and be cool....
so that's what we've been doing....yesterday and today at my parent's pool...sipping ice cold water and watching the tropical storms roll in...
I feel more relaxed than I have in a long while. there's nothing I have to do but laze around and the biggest decision I have to make is whether I can be bothered to move from poolside to the water or vice versa....
And the best thing about it is that I have weeks of this stretching out before me....jealous much?
stay tuned....xxx
